Welcome to our live coverage of Liverpool's Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion. And the Reds lead 2-0 at half-time thanks to a Pascal Gross own goal Alexander Isak's sixth of the Premier League season.
In-form Brighton sit third in the standings with a whopping 23 goals in seven games. But Liverpool are quietly creeping into form themselves, winning seven of their last nine outings in all competitions.
Victory this afternoon would move the Reds above Chelsea into fourth. But you have to go back to April for the last time they won at home in the Premier League.
So can Liverpool end that run today? Paul Gorst, Ian Doyle and Theo Squires are at Anfield to find out.
Foot off the gas
Liverpool have just taken their foot off the gas in the last 10 or 15 minutes here.
A third would surely kill the game but Brighton still feel they are in this.
As I type, Liverpool go down the other end and Gakpo almost finds Isak at the back post.
Off the post!
Brighton hit the post through Ayari.
All came from Mac Allister losing it on the edge of the box.
Big Ron
The crowd chant for Ronald Araujo after he won possession back near his own corner flag and cleared the danger.
Wide
Mac Allister heads a Wirtz near-post goalwards but he's took far outside the post, goes wide.
No yellow
Referee Sam Barrott gives Gakpo and Vuskovic a talking-to after a little bit of a shoving match between the pair. No yellow cards handed out.
Gross own goal
Florian Wirtz's goal has been taken off him, as things stand, and instead gone down as a Pascal Gross own goal. It was a big deflection to be fair.
Good defending
Brighton try to find space for the shot inside the area and move it about but Liverpool defend it really well and Jacquet takes one to the face for his troubles before the home side eventually clear. The crowd enjoyed that, everyone threw their bodies on the line.
Swagger
Liverpool are playing with a swagger about them here and it is probably the best 25 minutes they've had under Iraola in the Premier League.
Isak on target
It's Isk's sxith goal of the season and full credit to Barcola who wins it back with his tenacity before driving into the box and picking out his No.9.
Liverpool 2-0 Brighton.
What a start this is from the Reds.
GOAL! Liverpool 2-0 Brighton (Isak)
And another!
Tails up
Really good save from Verbruggen to deny Gakpo and then Isak smashes one over the bar. Liverpool have their tails up.
Wirtz on target!
Florian Wirtz sticks it home with a low drive after Araujo's cross is only half cleared.
Verbruggen was unsighted by a deflection off Gross I think but it doesn't matter, Liverpool lead!
GOAL! Liverpool 1-0 Brighton (Wirtz)
Chance!
Massive chance for Ayari, who hits it into the Kop from Gross' cut-back. Really should be 1-0.
Liverpool undone too easily there, from Gomez's pass.
Early ponderings
It's not so much windy as cold. Not the worst conditions for football although it is a bit blustery at times.
Liverpool are trying to settle but Brighton are pressing high. It's made for a bit of a tough watch in the early moments.
Good start
Barcola tracks back well and wins possession before carrying it and releasing Wirtz down the right.
The No.7 finds Isak with a cross-field ball but he can't quite control it to give him a shot on goal.
It was a nice move involving all three though.
As I type, Gakoo works Verbruggen with a shot from 20 yards or so.
Brighton sub
Liverpool trying to make the most of their numerical advantage as Brighton attempt to make a sub. Eventually it's cleared for a throw Costinha is on for Kadioglu inside six minutes.
Kadioglu down
Early blow for Brighton with Kadioglu down.
Looks like his afternoon might be over already.
Underway
Underway at Anfield. Both sets of players take the knee in recognition of the Premier League's No Room for Racism campaign.
Packed directors' box
It's a who's who inside the Anfield directors' box. Vice-chairman Amit Bhatia is here with his family alongside CEO Billy Hogan, LFC Foundation director Matt Parish and a fella named Ian Rush, who used to put the ball in the net here many moons ago. You may have heard of him too?
Anyway, the teams are out. Kick-off on its way from Anfield.
No Seagulls 'stars'
One of the truly impressive things about this Brighton side is how well they are playing without any obvious 'stars'. It is very much a team thing where Fabian Hurzeler is concerned. Pascal Gross has rolled by the years so far but Luka Vuskovic has earned rave reviews this term and Charalampos Kostoulas has been excellent in what I have seen of Brighton so far this season.
But with all that being said, an injury-hit Liverpool were more than a match for league leaders Manchester City a fortnight ago here before that controversial Ryan Gravenberch red card, so they have to be at a similar level of intensity today too.
Carragher thoughts
The Liverpool legend was asked on Sky Sports whether he believes Liverpool, who have lost just once in all competitions so far this season, have had a good start.
And he said: "In terms of the manager, I think it's been a really good start. And even from the game that they lost, against Manchester City, they should take confidence from that. Brighton have been the best team in the Premier League so far this season, so if Liverpool can beat them, then it would have been a very good start."
Not so very very wind
Whisper it quietly, but it isn't so bad in here regards wind.
It is, though, absolutely belting it down.
Frosty Barcola
I think Bradley Barcola might be feeling the cold. While a number of Liverpool players are wearing gloves during the warm-up, he is the only one also donning both a woolly hat and scarf.
Prize at stake
Liverpool, should they win at home in the Premier League for the first time since April, would move into the top four today after Chelsea's home loss to Tottenham Hotspur last night.
Iraola on his team selection
Andoni Iraola has been explaining the line-up he has picked this afternoon:
At the end, we are changing the team a little bit [because] every three or four days we are playing. So, I think it's a matter of finding the best match-ups we can find and also thinking how are we going to finish the game. For sure, we will use Rio [Ngumoha] in the best way we can in the second half and everyone has to be ready.
Ngumoha, of course, was electrifying in the midweek Champions League win over Villarreal.
Big-money talk
Andoni Iraola said last Monday that he feels the discourse around Florian Wirtz is too much and to an extent, he is right. But the £116m playmaker has been good in his last three outings, so he has to build on that today with two other players who cost a king's ransom in Alexander Isak and Bradley Barcola.
The big-money trio have contributed five goals and three assists in those victories.
If they come to the party today, it will feel like a particularly big step forward for this Liverpool outfit under Andoni Iraola.
So Ngumoha to start vs Chelsea?
With Rio Ngumoha benched today, you would assume that means he will get the opportunity to start against his former club, Chelsea, in midweek.
I would imagine the teenager would relish such a prospect as Liverpool continue to manage him carefully.
Gakpo thoughts
Cody Gakpo has been speaking about the challenge facing Liverpool today. He said: "It's going to be a tough game. I think they have shown in the last games that they are very good on the ball, defensively very good and score a lot of goals. So it will be a tough game for us but I think we are ready."
